We are pleased to provide you with some information that we hope will make your visit more enjoyable, regardless of whether your life is affected in some way by any disability impairment or medical condition.

​

Jessamine House is situated on the London road approx. 1 miles fromthe town centre of Gravesend. The road is on a flat surface

​

We have 10 rooms. 4 on the top floor 3 on the middle floor and 3 on the lower ground. The rooms on the lower ground are wheelchair friendly 

​

The guest house does not have a lift and the rooms are on 3 floors. There are 8 steps up to the front door and 13 steps down to the reception area and dining room . We do have a side entrance which has

3 steps down from the car park to the lower ground floor and garden area

Pre-Arrival

​

• Enquiries and bookings can be made by Telephone or email

• We are approximately 1.2 miles from Ebbsfleet International railway station and Gravesend railway station. No direct bus service is available from Ebbsfleet but taxis are available. From Gravesend station you can get a taxi or a bus number 490 from outside the station which will drop you 50 yards from the guest house

Car Parking and Arrival

​

• We have limited car parkingto the front and additional parking to the rear via dover road. The car park is level and is covered with gravel . We have no designated disabled parking but if we aremade aware before arrival we will allocate a place for you.

​

• There are 8 steps up to the main entrance door or 3 steps down to the side door both entrances are not suitable for people that need to be in a wheelchair and who are unable to walk a small distance

  

• Porterage is always available and bags can be fetched from your car and delivered to your room

Welcome Area

​

• Reception area is tiled and is step free apart from the step over the lower entrance door. There is no seating in this area but guests can sit in the dining room which is next to the reception. All stairs have carpet. All areas are well lit

​

Bedrooms

• We have 3 lower ground floor bedrooms, 1 single and 2 doubles. Middle floor 2 doubles 1 family/twin. Top floor 1 single 2 doubles 1 family/twin. None of the rooms have wheelchair access. All bedroom doors are numbered with raised numbers. There are 13 steps from ground floor to middle floor and 16 steps from middle floor to top floor. All bedroom floors have carpet and all en-suites are tiled.

 

• Rooms do not have telephones

• En-suite’s are not fitted with grab handles

​

• All rooms are painted white and all en-suite’s are fully tiled. Rooms have ceiling lights and bedside lights. Some of the larger rooms are fitted with wardrobes and the smaller ones have hanging space.

​

• Lower ground floor rooms are wheelchair friendly (not fully DDA complaint however)

​

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (En-suite or Shared)

​

• From all bedrooms to the ensuite there is level access. All are fitted with walk in showers , wc and hand basin. There is no heating in the bathroom. Bathrooms are not fitted with grab rails

​

• Lighting is LED

 

• Floors and walls are tiled

 

• There are no baths in any of the rooms

 

 

 

Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

​

• All public areas are well lit. stairs have carpet and the middle and top floor landing. The lower ground floor is tiled

​

•  From the middle floor down to the lower ground there is no hand rail on the stairs

  

• 13 steps from lower ground to middle floor and 16 steps from middle to top floor

​

​

Public Toilet

​

• No public toilet currently, once complete this will be on the middle landing 9 steps up from the lower ground

​

​

Dining Room

• The dining room is on the lower ground floor and is on one level. There is ample move-able seating and the chairs are without arms. Service is a mixture of self-serve and table service depending on the breakfast option taken. If required a full service can be provided. Currently there is no public wc. The area is part conservatory and is well lit with led lights . dietary needs can be catered for if advance warning is given

Garden

​

• The garden is available to guests , this is accessed from the lower

ground floor or 3 steps from the gravel car park. The patio area is

paved and there are seats and tables available for use. The

grassed area of the garden has 3 steps up to this area

​

Additional Information

​

• The fire alarm is a high pitched siren and does not have flashing lights apart from one in the dining room. An evacuation procedure can be agreed with guests on arrival. Emergency evacuations plans are in the all rooms but are not large print. Service dogs are welcome. Gravesend hospital is 1 miles away for minor injury The main A&E Darrant valley Hospital Dartford is 8 miles away.

• A doctors walk in centre is 1 mile away.

 

• Internet is free in all areas of the guest house

​

• We have tried to be as accurate as possible in our access statement but are always willing to give further information if needed. Please do not hesitate to contact use if you need further assistance

Future Plans

​

•  We plan to put a ramp in from the car park to the lower level

 

•  We have a proposal for a Three storey rear extension. From the current access on the lower ground floor we propose a corridor to run from the current exit door to a new exit door at the side of the house. The new lower ground floor bedroom will have an entry door leading from the new corridor and will have access to the main house or through the fire door at the end of the corridor to the lower level garden. Please refer to the proposed plan

 

• The entry to the new bedroom on the first level will be from the main corridor, which is 13 steps from the lower lever. This level has the main entry door.

 

• The new bedroom on the second will also have access from the landing, 16 steps from the middle floor.To exit the building you need to go down the 16 steps to the main door on the middle floor
